Hyperthyroidism Therapy

• If you are a female of childbearing age, you will receive a pregnancy test prior to your treatment.
• Please do not eat or drink anything 2 hours before and after dosing.
• If you are currently taking thyroid medicine, you must stop taking them 4 – 6 weeks prior to your treatment.
• If you are taking Propylthiouracil (PTU), you may not take it for five days prior to your treatment.
• Please do not take any multivitamins for two weeks prior to your treatment.
• You should not have had iodinated contrast studies (CT or IVP exams) 8 weeks prior to your treatment.
• You should not be taking medicine or consuming food that contains a large amount of iodine, such as sushi or kelp.
• An allergy to seafood and/or iodinated contrast is not a contraindication for this study.

Thyroid Therapy Carcinoma

• Please do not eat or drink anything 2 hours before and after dosing.
• If you are currently taking thyroid medicine, you must stop taking them for 6 weeks prior to your exam.
• You may not receive any contrast medias 4 weeks prior to your exam.
• If you are taking Propylthiouracil (PTU), you may not take it for 5 days prior to your exam.
• You should not have had iodinated contrast studies (CT or IVP exams) 8 weeks prior to your treatment.
• You should not be taking medicine or consuming food that contains a large amount of iodine, such as sushi or kelp.
• An allergy to seafood and/or iodinated contrast is not a contraindication for this study.

Myocardial Perfusion Imaging

• Please do not eat or drink for 4 hours prior to your exam.
• You should not have caffeine 12 hours prior to your exam.
• You should wear comfortable clothing and walking shoes.

Cardiac Blood Pool Rest or Stress

• You should wear comfortable clothing and walking shoes.

Thyroid Uptake

• Please do not eat or drink anything 2 hours before and after dosing.
• If you are currently taking thyroid medicine, you must stop taking them for 6 weeks prior to your exam.
• If you are taking Propylthiouracil (PTU), you may not take it for 5 days prior to your exam.
• Please do not take any multivitamins for 2 weeks prior to your exam.

Thyroid Scan, Thyroid Carcinoma Whole Body

• Please do not eat or drink anything 2 hours before and after dosing.
• If you are taking thyroid medicine, you must stop taking them for 4 – 6 weeks prior to your exam.
• If you are scheduled for a whole body exam, you will receive a radionuclide capsule 48 hours prior to your exam.
• You should not have had iodinated contrast studies (CT or IVP exams) 8 weeks prior to your treatment.
• You should not be taking medicine or consuming food that contains a large amount of iodine, such as sushi or kelp.
• An allergy to seafood and/or iodinated contrast is not a contraindication for this study.

Thyroid Carcinoma Mets Limited

• Please do not eat or drink anything 2 hours before and after dosing.
• If you are taking thyroid medicine, you must stop taking them for 4 – 6 weeks prior to your exam.
• 48 hours prior to your exam, you will receive a radionuclide capsule.
• You should not have had iodinated contrast studies (CT or IVP exams) 8 weeks prior to your treatment.
• You should not be taking medicine or consuming food that contains a large amount of iodine, such as sushi or kelp.
• An allergy to seafood and/or iodinated contrast is not a contraindication for this study.

Schilling Test

• Please do not eat or drink anything after midnight prior to your exam.

Hepatobilliary Function Scan

• Please do not eat or drink anything 4 hours prior to your exam.
• You may not take any sort of pain medication 6 hours prior to your exam.

Gastric Emptying Study

• Please do not eat anything for 4 hours prior to your exam.

Meckels Scan

• Please do not eat or drink anything after midnight prior to your exam.
• You should not take any laxatives prior to exam.

PET Scan

• Please do not eat or drink anything for 4 hours prior to your exam.
