Pastoral Care Banquet Coming Up:
Meet the team and learn more about hospital ministry
For many patients, a hospital stay can be a frightening, anxious, and potentially lonely experience. At St. Mary’s Good Samaritan, we know that an important part of our patients’ healing process is receiving spiritual care in addition to medical care. Our ministry is to carry on the healing ministry of Jesus Christ, and one indispensable facet of this mission is our Pastoral Care Department.
As a part of our ongoing effort to provide the best patient care possible, the Pastoral Care Department at our Mt. Vernon Campus is hosting an event to foster communication and provide education and resources to our local pastors who do so much for our patients. On April 10, the Pastoral Care will host a casual banquet for local pastors of any denomination to come meet our department members and to learn more about the services and training available to them here. The event will be held from 5:30 – 8 pm in the 2nd floor meeting room near the cafeteria. On hand will be Jeffrey Stewart, Director of Pastoral Care, as well as Chaplains Ann Joyce and Jill Kaetzel.
Attendees will enjoy free refreshments, fellowship, and lots of information, including:
- the services we have available to pastors who minister at our Mt. Vernon Campus, including computer access for patient listings, training on the chaplain’s role in compassionate visiting, and badges for staff recognition and support.
- Opportunities to volunteer at our Mt. Vernon Campus, such as being an on-call chaplain, and future Clinical Pastoral Education opportunities.
- A sneak peek at the chapel and the Pastoral Care Department as it will be in the replacement hospital facility!
We invite local pastors, fire department chaplains, police department chaplains, and even corporate chaplains to attend. Spouses are welcome!
