Plans have been announced to develop a $140 million new community medical campus in Janesville which will include a 50-bed hospital and an adjacent physician office complex.  The hospital will be part of SSM Health Care of Wisconsin, parent company of St. Mary's Hospital in Madison and St. Clare Hospital in Baraboo. No name has been selected.

Procedures currently performed at the Riverview Surgery Center, jointly owned by Dean and SSM Health Care of Wisconsin, will be performed at the new hospital. The medical campus will be located near Interstate 90 at Highway 11. 

The new hospital and physician complex is expected to open in 2010 with approximately 344 employees.
