Support Groups
The Frank C. Love Cancer Institute at St. Anthony offers support groups for cancer patients and their families including... LOOK GOOD... FEEL BETTER! St. Anthony is pleased to offer Look Good, Feel Better!® to any woman receiving treatment for cancer. Look Good, Feel Better is a free 2-hour, interactive workshop, facilitated by licensed cosmetologists and sponsored by the American Cancer Society. Each participant receives a personalized 12-step skin care/make-up lesson, instruction on hair and nail care techniques, and a complimentary cosmetic kit valued at approximately $300! Look Good, Feel Better®! is dedicated to improving self-esteem and quality of life for people undergoing treatment for cancer. The aim is to create a sense of support, confidence, courage, and community. Look Good, Feel Better®! is offered quarterly at St. Anthony Hospital. Us, Too! Prostate Cancer Support Group Us, Too! International is an education and support network whose mission is to help men and their families make informed decisions about prostate cancer detection and treatment through support, education, and advocacy. St. Anthony is proud to be a sponsor of 1 of over 300 Us, Too! support groups nationwide. These monthly meetings provide unbiased information from experts in areas related to prostate cancer including treatment options, pain control, nutrition, mental health, coping strategies, and more. Classes
Diabetes St. Anthony offers outpatient Diabetic Education Classes. They are offered on the third Friday of every month from noon until 4pm. To enroll in the class you must have an order from your Physician. For more information, please call 405-272-7102
Freedom from Smoking St. Anthony Hospital is dedicated to providing the resources you need to become tobacco free. That's why we've partnered with the American Lung Association to bring you an eight week Freedom from Smoking program. The eight week sessions are led by a trained smoking cessation coordinator who understands how hard quitting smoking really is. The Freedom from Smoking program at St. Anthony uses a positive behavior change that show you how to become a nonsmoker. There is a one time fee $50 for the public. Childbirth - Five-week childbirth class Preparing for a new baby can be exciting, but there is a lot to learn before the big day. Knowing what to expect will help ease your mind. Classes are held on Mondays or Tuesdays, 7pm - 9:30pm.
Our five-week series of classes covers all aspects of child birth including:
- what to expect during labor and delivery
- breathing techniques
- massage and relaxation
- medical intervention
- pain control
- post pardom
- breast and bottle feeding
- newborn care
- newborn safety
- car seat safety - infant CPR review - safe sleep practices
One Day childbirth class We know that you're life can be busy, and you may not have time for our five week course. That is why we offer a one day condensed course held one saturday per month from 9:00am - 4:30pm.
Breastfeeding We understand for expecting moms, the idea of breastfeeding can be overwhelming. Our breastfeeding classes, led by our certified lactation consultant, will help ease your concerns and answer any questions you may have
Grandparenting St. Anthony developed a class where the Grandparents-to- be can learn the latest information about how to care for their new grand baby. They will get refreshers on the basics - bathing, diapering and feeding - plus updates on the safest way to position a baby while sleeping, how to use a car seat and ways they can enrich their grandchid's development. Seminars
Behavioral Medicine Four times a year, St. Anthony offers a seminar in the area of Behavioral Medicine to Mental Health professionals acquiring CEU's and others who are interested in learning about the given topic. Seminars will be held on a Friday afternoon from 1pm - 3pm in the St. Mary Conference. 3 CEU'S per seminar will be given. Attendance is limited and all non employees must pre-register. Weight Management
Lap Band At 7 p.m. on the third Thursday every month at St. Anthony, a Physician speaks about a minimally invasive approach to surgery called the Lap-Band. He will speak 30-40 minutes, questions and answers will follow. The Seminar is free, but seating is limited and pre-registration is required by registering on-line or by calling 232-4211.
Well Weigh Program At St. Anthony North, we understand the importance of total body health. We also know that attaining a healthy weight can be hard when you don't have the right tools. That's why we've developed our Well Weigh program. Dedicated to helping you reach your ideal weight, we work with you providing safe and effective tools so you can reach your goal. Led by our Registered Dietitian, we give you two options so you can choose which program is right for you.
- 8 weeks of group-weight-loss class directed by our dietitian and exercise specialist
- 5 private consultation sessions with our dietitian
