2011 Missouri Quality Awards

COLUMBIA, Mo. (November 17, 2011) – SSM Health Care and SSM Integrated Health Technologies both received a 2011 Missouri Quality Award on Nov. 17 at the 2011 Excellence in Missouri Conference. Approximately 150 representatives from throughout SSM gathered in Columbia, Mo., to celebrate the event.
The award, given by the Excellence in Missouri Foundation, honors excellence in such areas as organizational performance, leadership, customer service and satisfaction. It's the second time SSM Health Care has received the honor and the fourth time for SSM Integrated Health Technologies.
SSM applied for the Missouri Quality Award (MQA) as a system this year. The MQA examiners visited 21 SSM locations, held 70 meetings and talked to more than 1,500 SSM employees from all over the system.
When receiving the award Thursday night, SSM President/CEO Bill Thompson dedicated it to SSM’s employees, physicians, and volunteers. “Day in and day out, you bring to life our Mission: Through our exceptional health care services, we reveal the healing presence of God. I say this to the SSM people who are here tonight: your commitment to our ministry is the reason for this recognition. You minister to everyone you serve with dignity, respect, and compassion. It is through you that God's healing presence is revealed and it is my great privilege to serve along side of you.”
Tom Langston, SSM senior vice president - chief information officer, offered his deep thanks and high praise for the work SSM Integrated Health Technologies does to support those who care for SSM's patients. “These employees support the Mission of SSM Health Care every day – and they support the technology needs of over 23,000 colleagues in four states, each and every one of them building on a tradition of excellence in an industry that cannot settle for less. That tradition is why we’re here tonight; that’s why SSM Health Care, a Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award recipient, is here tonight to receive its award, and that’s why nine other Missouri-based SSM Health Care facilities have received this award since 1996.”
Others awarded 2011 Missouri Quality Award were the Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City and University of Missouri Health Care in Columbia, Mo.
