Baseball Cardinals, SSM Cardinal Glennon Team Up
Running time (:30)
ST. LOUIS (March 26, 2012) -- The St. Louis Cardinals baseball organization and SSM Cardinal Glennon Children's Medical Center are teaming up for "Homers for Health," a community-wide initiative tying fan donations to SSM Cardinal Glennon each time a Cardinals player hits a home run.
Here's how the program would work. If the Cardinals hits 162 homers as it did last season, a fan's pledge of .50 cents per homer this season would mean a $81 donation to Cardinal Glennon. Pledge forms are available online at www.glennon.org and at 23 Dierbergs locations.
Donations raised through Homers for Health will benefit thousands of pediatric patients at Cardinal Glennon. The program was announced Monday in Jupiter, Fla., where the Cardinals play their spring training games, by outfielder Matt Holliday and infielder David Freese. The initiative is being sponsored by Centene Charitable Foundation and Powered by Peabody.
