Under the direction of Lori Rudolph, RN, the St. Clare Parish Nurse Program coordinates health care resources for parishioners of area churches. Parish nurses are registered nurses who serve as members of a faith community promoting health. They possess a valid State of Wisconsin license and perform in accordance with both the Wisconsin Nurse Practice Act and the American Nurse Association Standards and Scope of Parish Nursing.
Parish Nurses complete a basic course that integrates the curriculum of the International Parish Nurse Resource Center. They maintain their current knowledge of nursing practice and possess an understanding of both legal and ethical issues as it is related to professional practice.
Parish Nurses deliver holistic, health promoting and preventive care that is based on the concept of wholeness of mind, body and spirit. The role of Parish Nurses is to be integrators of faith and health, educators, health counselors, advocates, resource coordinators, referral agents and volunteer coordinators. They practice within the framework of a church, congregation, parish or faith-based community center.
