Thorne Wittstruck, St. Clare Cardiac Rehab Coordinator, left, recently gave this Cardiac Science Automated External Defibrillator (AED) to Baraboo School Nurse Diana Cone and Baraboo High Principal Machell Schwarz. Wittstruck won the defibrillator as a door prize while attending the Wisconsin Cardiovascular Pulmonary Rehab Society's spring conference. When his co-worker Athletic Trainer Jim Shlimovitz told him the high school was looking for a potential donor to make this piece of equipment available, Wittstruck knew just the right place for his prize. In the case of cardiac arrest, the AED shocks the heart into a better rhythm and improves the chances for survival.
