ST. CLARE HONORS BARABOO PHYSICIAN
BARABOO, December 4, 2006. . . Dr. T. Rex Flygt, an internal medicine physician with Baraboo Internal Medicine, was selected by a committee of St. Clare Hospital employees and physicians as the 2006 recipient of the St. Luke the Physician Recognition Award. The award – named after Luke, the New Testament Gospel writer who was a physician – honors a physician who most exemplifies the hospital’s values of compassion, respect, excellence, stewardship and community. Dr. Flygt received the award at a breakfast hosted by the hospital in his honor.
In their nomination letters, employees and physicians noted Dr. Flygt’s compassion for his patients and willingness to share his knowledge.
One physician wrote, “The ability to provide critical care expanded greatly when Dr. Flygt established his practice here in 1982. He served as medical director for ACLS training. He became trained in endoscopy so that area residents could have gastroscopy and colonoscopy available on a daily rather than weekly basis. He increased his knowledge regarding GI (gastrointestinal) issues so he could provide expert consultation as well as endoscopy. He earned advanced training in Geriatrics from the American College of Physicians and today applies that learning as medical director of St. Clare Meadows. He recently earned a Masters Degree in Medical Ethics from the Medical College of Wisconsin and shares his insight with our Ethics Committee.”
“To patients, who apologize for calling him at home day or night, he says, ‘You wouldn’t be calling if you didn’t need me,” wrote an employee.
Dr. Flygt joins four other physicians previously honored with this award: Dr. Harold Conley, Dells Clinic, 2002; Dr. Brad Schnee, Medical Associates, 2003; Dr. Jim Damos, Medical Associates, 2004; and Dr. Karen Ailsworth, Medical Associates, 2005.
The award process is coordinated by the St. Clare Mission Awareness Council.] |
